Westpac Bank refuses buying westp.ac from a domain seller
Online entrepreneur Dominic Holland exacerbates two well-known trademark holders
11.03.2010
Mr. Holland had offered the Westpac Bank the rights to his registered westp.ac domain name. A few days before, he was trying to sell qant.as to the eponymous Australian airline.
Both companies avoid the domain seller’s offer. Despite claims of trademark infringement Mr. Holland is convinced that both companies have no legal standing according to the Registry rules and regulations and WIPO rulings.
Mr. Holland is not alone in stitching brand name with ccTLD to sound like well-known brand or company, example ninten.do.
