.PT registry changes the rules for .pt domain names registration FCCN announces liberalization of .pt domain registration of .pt to public |
23.02.2012
From May 1, 2012, the obligatory of having a brand or company to register .pt domain names will be cancelled, as the Foundation for National Scientific Computing (FCCN) has announced at a press conference in Lisbon.
A “sunrise” period of 60 days will start from March 1, to allow companies and trade mark holders to “protect” their names beforehand.
The Foundation expects a noticeable increase of new .pt domain name registrations, since anybody can register the .pt addresses without having an association to a brand or company. However, the domain has to be delegated in the .pt area and technically associated with a correctly installed and configured primary name server.
