NIC Mexico will be reopening the registration of domain name directly under .MX (E.g. name.mx).

During the first phase, so called Sunrise Period from 1 May – 31 July 2009, NIC MX will give priority to the holders of existing .MX domain names registered before 1 March 2009.

They will be able to submit application of .MX domain name matching exactly their second level domain. E.g. Holder of companyname.com.mx can apply for companyname.mx. In the case of multiple direct .MX applications, priority will be given to the request coming from the holder of the domain name with the oldest creation date.

During the Quiet Period, from 1 – 31 August 2009, applications with Pending Status will be resolved and objection can be submitted and resolved. Application of direct .MX domain name will be opened to general public during the Landrush Period from 1 September – 31 October 2009.
