As the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) meets for its annual general meeting in Toronto Professor Michael Geist, a former CIRA board member, laments on how CIRA has neglected its public policy role.
He commented on initiatives in United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, The Netherlands and France etc which parlay their financial success into a bigger contribution to their internet landscape in the form of contribution to aid disadvantage group access internet, research and policy development, support to internet security and innovation organisation, price competition for student research and other international initiative to promote internet use in the developing world.
